Hello and welcome to Math:

My name is Michelle Stalter, and I will be your teacher again this year.  I spent a relaxing summer at home in the United States traveling between Washington and Iowa finishing up my Masters Degree.  This year I am trying something new and have created a blog.  This blog will allow students and parents to get online and see what is happening in math class.  I hope to update it three times a week at least in order to post what homework the students have on their homework nights.  The address is: http://mathwithstalter.wordpress.com/.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about your student’s progress throughout the year through email.

Points

  • 1 point everyday for being IN YOUR SEAT when the bell rings.
  • 1 point everyday for having all materials (book or packet, pencil, paper (both graph and lined, ruler, calculator etc.)
  • 1 point for following all behavior rules in class
  • 15 points a week for material check, being in class on time, and tardies.
  • 15-20 points for quizzes
  • 30-50 points for tests

Homework, Tests, and Quizzes

  • There will be a quiz or test almost every week.  I will give as much advanced notice as possible for most tests and quizzes, but there will occasionally be a pop quiz that was unannounced
  • Each class will have homework three times a week.  Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays, will be the days for homework generally, unless we have a test on that day.

Rules

  • No food or drink
  • No I pods or cell phones
  • Listen to the teacher and each other (you cannot listen if you are talking J)
  • Show respect
  • No talking during tests or quizzes!  Students who talk during a test will receive an automatic zero.  I will rip up their test and throw it in the garbage.
  • Students need to use the bathroom before or after class.  If they go during class they will miss too much important information.

Office hours

I am available everyday after school until 3:30.  Test retakes will be held the Tuesday after I hand back the test.  If you have a conflict please come and talk to me.

Recuperation

There is no recuperation this year at Panamericano.

Academic Reinforcement

Students can make up tests only, and will receive an average of their first grade and the grade of their retake.  Students will have one shot to make up a test. The Tuesday after the test is given back after school will be used as a test retake day
